Q: Who do I contact for hotel reservations?
A: All hotel reservations (Including shoulder nights) will be made by your hosts, Sue & Josef L’Africain. Please fill out the registration form and email it to Sue at: ICCA 2018. If you need to make changes after you submit your form please email those changes to Sue at the same email address listed above.
Q: Which airports are best to fly into?
A: Boston (BOS), Portland (PWM), Bangor ME (BGR), Manchester NH (MHT), New York (JFK) or (LGA). You might also want to look into flights from BOS to RKD (Knox County Regional Airport) located in Rockland, ME. Cape Air flies from Boston to Rockland and you can catch a cab from there to The Samoset Resort, about a 15-minute cab ride.
Q: What are my transportation options once I arrive in the New England area?
A: There is very little public transportation in Maine. There is bus transport from Boston to Rockland but as of today there is no rail service. However, there is talk of Amtrak adding a line from Boston to Rockland this summer and early fall. If that does indeed happen Sue will update this information. Your best bet is to rent a car for your travels and consider carpooling to share the cost.
Q: Does the Samoset Resort offer valet parking?
A: Yes, they offer self and valet parking. Both are complimentary for guests of the hotel.
Q: What will the weather be like?
A: September in Maine is one of the most beautiful months of the year. Typically warm days and cool nights. Please consider bringing a light weight jacket or coat and you might consider a hat – just to be on the safe side!
